Manitoba Top Employer 2023

FUSION CREDIT UNION IS RECOGNIZED AS A TOP MANITOBA EMPLOYER FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

HAMIOTA – For the fourth consecutive year, Fusion Credit Union has been named a Top Manitoba Employer by the Editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.  The annual competition recognizes Manitoba employers that lead their industries in offering an exceptional employee experience and work environment.

“Over the past several years, our organization has experienced substantial growth in all areas, including our employee experience,” states Darwin Johns, CEO of Fusion Credit Union.  “We have built an inclusive environment that is centered around employee wellness and is focused on providing meaningful work for all employees.  In 2022 we formalized our flex work program, implemented several employee appreciation programs, performed salary and organizational chart reviews, and added five new positions to our organization.  We have accomplished so much this past year and every employee at Fusion has helped contribute to our success.”

Fusion Credit Union is a full-service financial institution that serves more than 30,000 members across 18 branches in the Parkland and southwestern Manitoba.  With assets under administration exceeding $1.4 billion, Fusion provides meaningful employment to 200 employees in our communities.

And while growth has been a common theme at Fusion for the past 5 years, the personal growth and professional development of all employees will continue to remain a priority for the future.  Professional development has been paramount to the culture and now Fusion Credit Union is taking it one step further with the creation of career paths for employees.

“Career paths are created with the understanding that employees bring their own set of skills and experiences to their current position,” says Leanne DeVliegere, Chief Operations Officer at Fusion Credit Union.  “With the support of their manager, employees carve out their own path by identifying learning opportunities, enabling them to build on their current knowledge and skill set.  Each employee will essentially create a road map for learning and developing not only in their current role but also for future roles.  Learning leads to confidence in mastering one’s role which ultimately leads to job satisfaction.”

Recognizing the importance of creating a work-life balance, Fusion has now implemented a flex-work program which provides employees the choice of whether to work remotely from home, in their home branch, or a hybrid of both.  “The goal of the flex-work program is to provide a balance between work life and home life,” comments DeVliegere.  “All aspects of an individual’s life are taken into consideration, not just their role at work.  If working remotely provides the flexibility they need, fits into the job role, and meets the expectations of our members, we want to offer that choice.”

At Fusion, employees are encouraged to explore possibilities that fuel their passion, not only in their professional life, but also in their personal life.  “From career building to continuous learning to community involvement, we provide the opportunities for our employees to find fulfillment in all aspects of their lives,” says Johns.  “Our goal is to help our employees feel inspired and empowered, realize their full potential, and provide opportunities for meaningful contributions each and every day.”
