HAMIOTA, MB – Fusion Credit Union is proud to announce they have been recognized as a Manitoba Top Employer for the seventh consecutive year. This special designation recognizes employers in Manitoba that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. The accolade reinforces Fusion’s ongoing commitment to employee growth and development, priorities that CEO, Darwin Johns says are critical to their success.
“Investing in our people is one of the most beneficial commitments we can make as an organization,” says Johns. “We are proud of the culture we have created – one where learning and career growth is supported, encouraged and celebrated. Receiving the Manitoba Top Employer designation for the seventh year is proof that we are making a difference for our employees and our communities.”
As a full-service financial institution with 226 employees, Fusion serves more than 30,000 members through 18 branches across communities in Parkland and southwestern Manitoba. Now in its 19th year, Manitoba Top Employer is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top Employers. Organizations are evaluated on criteria such as employee communication, benefits, workplace culture, community involvement as well as training and skills development.
Fusion nurtures employee development with structured learning opportunities, tuition assistance programs, career path roadmaps and a culture that encourages continuous improvement. Employees have access to industry tools and certifications that are specific to their job roles, or future roles. For those interested in degree or diploma programs, Fusion provides tuition assistance and study time during work hours. Career path roadmaps are used to identify gaps in skills and the training required to reach career goals. Employees at Fusion embrace professional development and in 2025 logged 17,511 professional development hours.
“We are committed to helping employees build skills for success in their current roles, while preparing them for future opportunities across our organization,” states Mike Lowen, Chief Risk and People Officer. “When our employees grow, our organization grows with them. This continuous learning fuels both individual career journeys and the long-term strength of Fusion.”
Beyond formal training and development, employees are encouraged to participate in working groups and pilot projects that contribute to organizational improvement. These opportunities allow employees to expand their skill set, build leadership capabilities and actively shape the future of the organization.
“Participation in working groups and pilot projects helps employees gain confidence, discover new strengths and see firsthand the impact they can make,” says Loewen. “It’s incredibly rewarding to watch employees grow while helping shape the future of our organization.”
By prioritizing learning, collaboration and development, Fusion continues to strengthen its workforce while supporting the members and communities it serves. “Our people are our greatest strength,” says Johns. “By providing meaningful opportunities to learn, lead and contribute, we can continue to build a strong future for our employees, members and the communities we serve.”
